Arrivederci Lago di Como

Just got back from a wonderful holiday in Lake Como. For the first time in our lives we returned to the same place and even the same hotel – yep, it was that good last time! There are so many places to visit in the area that it would take a few years of going back to see them all. It is a great base for a holiday in the North of Italy and our all inclusive status in the hotel meant we didn’t have extortionate bills for eating out, which was a great bonus!

We had quite a detour the evening of our arrival due to a landslide which had happened a few days earlier. Now, normally this would be an added little excursion, as it meant a journey right around the lake. However, when you’ve been travelling since 4am for a flight from Dublin to Birmingham and then a six hour wait for a flight to Verona, by 20.30 hrs you just want to get to the hotel. Did we have an early night? Did we heck! We walked up the mountain path to the next village for a local festival!
